Tiny Steps

Dictation once again. At the fruit stand in the belly and most of my work is done. I was complimented on the work I had done Friday which stressed me out so much that I carried it with me on Friday night. Both Mike and Bill were concerned but not overly so.

It is now Monday and I am in the belly. I am reading about car vandalism in Hoboken and reminded of something that I told Mike I believe a week or so ago when Barbara Williams and Billy Shoerling and I were throwing dirt bombs at cars parked at an apartment complex.

One of the residents saw what we were doing and yelled at us to stop. We didn’t think anything of it since we were throwing dirt bombs and not rocks, but in hindsight, 50-plus years later, there were probably rocks in those dirt bombs, and there we were, depreciating the value of parked cars.

The person who was yelling at us was greatly upset, and we never stopped until he showed up behind us and grabbed us by the collar. Billy took off, but Barbara and I were caught, and he dropped Barbara off at her house, where Nanny Williams admonished her. And (you), when we got to my house, I nearly got my head head handed to me.

So the work I had done, which had stressed me out on Friday, turned out to be a good thing, although I actually think we’ll find out tomorrow since most of these requests (were) were Tuesday through Friday. Bill is on the road, Mike is at my crib and I am in the belly.

I’m taking lunch in about 6 minutes, and since I’m in the belly, I’ll probably go to that concrete Park and have a small cigar and look at all the other people that are smoking weed or just sleeping on the cement benches.

The internet and/or smartphones will be the death of culture as we know it. Whether or not it adapts to something greater or attempts to something lesser, we won’t know until we’re there.

There is an Autumn chill in the air so much so that I wore a jacket to work in a short-sleeve shirt, figuring that a short sleeve shirt would not do the trick when walking to the train in the morning. I suppose I did the right thing, but who really knows anyway.

I do need to go to sleep earlier than I have been. I am looking at 10:00 p.m. tonight; whether or not that actually happens is another story. 10:30 would be a good cutoff point and better than the 11:00 p.m. that I have been going to bed at.

Til Victory by Patti Smith group it’s in my head. Not a bad song the lead off track on the Easter album. Usually or lately, Tiny Steps by Elvis Costello and The Attractions has been occupying my jukebox in my mind palace, but obviously not today.
