It is once again a very hot day. I am sitting in front of Bill’s G4 Mac, sweating since there are no fans, and the sweat is pouring off of me in sheets. Oh the things I do for art. Juan came over last night and was able to remove the old network card, but was unable to install the new card. So now I am without a network card. The computer is still usable, just no Internet access. Not too big a deal, especially since Bill’s computers are readily available. I do like this G4 though. Big and powerful.
It was a noble attempt on Juan’s part, but really the best man for this job would be Rand. If it’s unfixable I will just rely on Bill’s computers. He doesn’t mind. I’d just have to figure out a way to transfer whatever files I have from there to here. Or there. Or wherever.
I cannot believe how soaking wet I am and that’s merely by typing. Juan was worried about taking his driving test today. When I told him I had failed 5 times he didn’t see much encouragement.
We watched ‘The Filth and the Fury’, a documentary by Julien Temple on VH1 classics about the Sex Pistols. Lot’s of good footage from London in 1976-77. Bill walked in halfway through to see Sid Vicious wearing a swastika t shirt. He realized it was more for shock value than for a political statement. Poor stupid Sid. He bought into the rock and roll lifestyle, slutty girlfriend and heroin. Eventually he overdosed himself, after being accused and arraigned on the murder of Nancy Spungen the slutty girlfriend. Johnny Rotten seemed really upset at the fact that it was he that brought Sid into the group and he seemed to feel responsible for his death, while also blaming Nancy for introducing Sid to heroin. Stupid idiots. Rotten even said that of all drugs that is the one that saps creativity and eventually life.
I’ve done my share of walking on the wild side but always steered clear of that junk. It always seemed like a really dumb thing to do and not much fun or socializing goes along with it. And if you know me, I’m all about socializing and fun.
At work today it was slow and hot. I had my air conditioning happening, which was great, but outside was brutal. Felicia was out today, which once again was great. She was trying to take off Monday and Tuesday and that would’ve been great but I couldn’t get the usual substitute so she’s coming in.
There is a new person in the office, she started about a month ago and for most of that time I was calling her Phyllis. We got along fine until she told me her name was actually Michelle. Now it’s awkward though each time I walk by her I say to myself, “Michelle, Michelle, Michelle.” Things were better when I knew her as Phyllis.
Now it’s too hot and I am too sweaty to continue tonight. I need a shower.
Don’t use the water.
I was wondering why Juan couldnt put your new enthernet card in your computer?
