Trains

Mike was supposed to stop by on Friday, but was told by a parole officer but he needed to be at his apartment at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. That shut down any plans that we had. It all depended on the parole officer at 7:00 a.m. . But we knew that they rarely show up when they say they are going to show up.

Mike was in lockdown in his apartment.
I woke up on Saturday morning and found Bill on the phone with Mike talking about the situation. After an hour and a half, Bill was off the phone and the day progressed slowly.

Bill and I went to the supermarket and did the grocery shopping. Mike had given me a gift card for the supermarket which was good because Mike owed me money and gave me the card instead which had more money on than he owed me.

An enjoyable walk and talk with Bill then we chill out at home for a little while. It was Annemaries birthday so I gave her a phone call and chatted for a few minutes.

After that, Bill was on the couch and I suggested we go to Jersey City Pride. It would’ve been great if Mike were with us but he was being held hostage.I hoped that maybe we would cross paths, that his parole officer showed up or allowed MIke to leave but no, that was not the case.

Bill and I walked to the Path train and caught the train to Grove street after a transfer at Newport. It all went rather smoothly. Before we joined the crowd ambling up and down Newark Street we stopped at the cigar shop where I bought a couple of La FLor Dominican Granu.

The last time I was there the woman behind the counter told me of a 3% surcharge on credit card use. This time there was no 3% surcharge. I said nothing and walked out with my cigars.

Bill and I walked around and Bill was spotted by James, an old high school friend of his. They’ve reconnected on social media where James professed his infatuation for Bill. James stated his love for Bill once more, and then later Bill received a text message where James apologized to me for his feelings for Bill.

Bill and I walked to the light rail to get back to Hoboken. I tried purchasing a ticket but could not. I have ridden the light rail dozens of times, each time having a ticket that was never checked. This was the first time I did not have a ticket and I was still not checked. Bill said it wouldn’t happen since I was white. And he was probably right.

The light rail did not take us to our full destination so we walked up to where RoDa was. He had an Herb Weedhed table, selling his merchandise. Bill and I saw with RoDa and Ellie and their son Logan as well as Ro’s aunt and a family friend. It was all rather mellow as the rappers were on stage doing their thing. I bought another Herb Weedhed t-shirt and a carry bag.

We made it home where we then chilled out after a long day.
Sunday was good. It rainined overnight and into the morning but by afternoon when I did my bike ride all was well. Saw the Tree in Liberty State Park and sat there for a while before heading back to Hoboken where I vegged out.

The fruit stand for me was quiet though busy things were going on. Mike stopped by towards the end of the day. I had printed out a bill for him since he had a government appointment coming up and needed the proof of residency.

We parted at the Path train. When the train pulled into Hoboken I spotted an old friend from Maxwell’s days, Georgia Hubley. We chatted for a moment; she looked great and told me Yo La Tengo are at work on a new album which was good news to hear.
