It’s Tuesday and not a bad day. Bill was at his folks (or so he says wink wink) and I was solo. Just didn’t do much of anything, stayed in and watched TV which is what I usually do as you can tell if you’ve been reading this frequently. Last night I watched a documentary on the late Joe Strummer, called ‘Let’s Rock Again’. Basically it was a documentary on Joe’s last tour with the Mescaleros through the States and Japan. It was great and touching and of course, sad. Joe looked rather tired from being on the road and from being such a good guy, taking time to talk with the fans after every gig, inviting them for a drink and/or a spliff. My type of guy. I do regret not seeing him live with the Clash or the Mescaleros. Music needs a new Joe Strummer.
After that was mindless TV and then off to bed. I slept relatively well and woke up on time this morning. I dressed to the nines or rather the eights since I wasn’t too sure on whether or not I was going to go and meet up with the suited guys. I got to the office after picking up the latest Mojo and Uncut Magazines happy to get them and knowing that I’ll have something entertaining to read for the next week or so. This week’s New Yorker is really good too. I got last weeks this week for some odd reason which has screwed up my reading agenda and you would be happy to know I’m almost done with Claudius the King (or so he says wink wink).
So the wearing of togas and laurels around the apartment should be coming to a close. It was too drafty anyway. I got to the office and the only one there was President Naomi. I asked her how the Seder was last night and it went well. Tonight was another Seder. So many Seders, keeping that angel of death away with the smearing of lamb’s blood on every doorway. She told me her daughter hosted her first Seder and that her daughter was Orthodox. Naomi isn’t and her husband is Catholic. Turns out the daughter fell in with a crowd of Orthodox Jews and soon converted. I suppose it could be worse, but why sacrifice freedom for subjugation?
Doesn’t matter to me as it’s not my life. Got a call from Pedro who was distressed for matters I cannot get into here but homeboy has got to grow up somewhat and stop dicking around. I told him that just not in so many words. I told him to call me tonight when he gets out of work at Riker’s Island, but I doubt if he will since he’s usually so pumped up and not in the mood to hear advice that he had asked for earlier (or so he says wink wink). Last night I also chatted with the twit, my former boss whom I thanked for giving Greg Stevens my phone number, effectively putting my employment life on a better track.
Work had been fun today. Lot’s of joking. Half of the office was out which may have contributed to the light atmosphere. Wally kept whining, asking me not to leave and all I could do was laugh. Most of the work I’ve been doing has been light so I haven’t had much to do since I tear through it. Even forgetting something I had started earlier in the day I was able to finish it by the end of the day before I left. I chatted briefly with Juan online who encouraged me to go to the suit and tie thing. I wrestled with the idea and decided to walk down to 19th street smoking a Padron all decked out in pinstripes (or so he says wink wink).
I didn’t want to be the first one at the G Lounge so I wandered around finishing the cigar and walking in. A few faces I recognized from two weeks ago and so I had a Heineken and looked around. I forgot how much I can’t stand house music and of course being a gay bar that is all you fucking hear is house music. I texted Juan telling him it was hellish and he responded joking that ‘tonight I cruise in hell’. But I wasn’t cruising.
I walked down to 19th Street listening to Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros and feeling alright, then it’s thump thump thump and lot’s of Chelsea twinks standing and posing. I spoke with Chris G whom I chatted with online and in person two weeks ago. He couldn’t stay and neither could I, pointing to my second Heineken and saying that after I finished I had to go out to dinner. He wandered off, I finished the beer and pulled out my cell phone, feigning talking on the phone so I weaved my way through the crowd and was soon on the street headed to the subway home.
Congrats to Juan on his new job. Your dime next time (or so he says wink wink).
