Low Key

The Grammys. It seemed like each week from 1978 to 1984, somebody that I liked was releasing something amazing. For a later post…

Today I work at the major fruit stand. Yesterday, Lex Luthor had a seizure, so he probably won’t be in

Kashus Culpepper is a 20-something musician from Alabama who was on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night and in our office today at the fruit stand. He wasn’t bad at all

I sit at Lex Luthor’s desk, and since he is out and I have the office application to play music play the Cars’ first album, and it is doing just that. I don’t know why, but it popped into my head, and here we are.

Almost done with Bread of Angels by Patti Smith. Robert, Richard, Fred, and Todd have just died one after another, though not in that order.

Just read an article about a woman named Libby Howes. She worked with Spalding Gray at the Wooster Group in the 1970s, and there’s an article about her in the New York Times today. And then most anything that mentions Spalding Gray gets my attention.

Which brought to my attention the plan I had at this time last year of doing performances at the 503 social club with Mike and Bill, referring to these log entries that I’ve been doing on and off since 2005. The concepts still pop up now and then, but the time is fleeting.

It can still be revived at some point, and I’m sure Bill and or Mike would love to be involved with that I would certainly appreciate their involvement nonetheless.

Tonight I have to stop by the library and pick up a book by Jelani Cobb. He’s a wonderful intellectual. I find him to be quite handsome. I can listen to him talk all night, and I’d love to hear him talk in bed. As I said, I am almost done with Patti Smith’s book, and I also have Lincoln in the Bardo, which is a book that I’d read a couple of years ago but didn’t finish because it was so beautiful and yet so incredibly sad.

I thought it might be worthwhile to attempt to read again, but time being what it is and Jelani Cobb appeared on my horizon.

Bill is off on the road from Thursday until Monday. Mike will be entertaining his beloved boyfriend from Friday until Monday, so essentially, I will be a solo act. I’m sure I can get through it with no problem. In fact, I might even enjoy it.

Today at the major fruit stand, it was busy but nothing insurmountable. Lex Luthor is in the hospital. I do hope he gets better.

Bill met me near the PATH station, and we had a nice walk home with a stop at the bibliotheque to pick up the Jelani Cobb book. We’ve just watched Jeopardy, and Bill is on the phone making plans for the itinerary of the ski trip. A nice, low-key way to close out this hump day.
