she was a GIANT

Shleep

I suppose it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. The prankster known as Marcus is a pain in the ass. I think it would be in my best interest to ignore anything that he does because I think he does it to get a reaction, and if he gets no reaction and it’s all for naught.

I tried to sleep last night and it was not easy and so today I am dragging my ass.
You have to love the God of fashion, who tells women what they can and cannot wear and tells men what they can and cannot wear. Women should cover up, men should wear this doily on their heads, it’s ridiculous.

It’s almost like those scriptures that are followed so religiously were written by a tailor or someone who knew a tailor in their family. Of course, there’s always the subjugation of women because men cannot control themselves; they have women dress so it’s not to tempt men because men are weak. Religion is such a wonderful way to control people with the promise of an afterlife of paradise or an afterlife of desolation and pain. You won’t know until you die, and if you do find out, you won’t be able to tell anyone else cuz you’ll be dead.

Today, right now, it is 74°. For the past 3 or 4 days, it’s been in the upper 90s and feeling like it is in the low hundreds. Today is not like that, and the air conditioner is blasting, and I’m wearing a cardigan at my desk. Right now, I feel like I can go to sleep with no problem, but I know that would be a big mistake since it would just be a nap and might affect my actual sleeping habits.

But last night was so oppressively hot. Even though the temperature was lower than the night before, it did a number on me. I soaked my head in cold shower water, went to bed earlier, where the air conditioner was blowing in the bedroom, and it didn’t seem to help much.

So today is payday, and it’s also a Thursday, which is usually the day I get paid, and I did. No plans for today, but I never have plans during the week anyway. I’m on 5th avenue once again, the barricades are put up for the pride parade this weekend, anticipating major crowds I suppose. I guess in this age. At times, it is crucial to stand up and stand out since so many rights and people are under attack and being violated.

It’s extremely pleasant outside right now, it feels like spring, although technically it is summer. The weather is comfortable, not much sweating involved, which is always a good thing, I suppose, though if one is not sweating and it’s very hot, there’s a chance that you might be getting heat stroke.

Marcus is playing the role of bitchy heterosexual man to a t. It seems to be a role that he was born to play, and he inhabits it well. And I will let him have his way and let him do whatever he wants to do, and I’ll stand aside or suffer the consequences.

I’m not feeling that great, but I just have to get through three and a half hours, but it should be no problem. Whereas at my desk, I’m usually able to play music through my computer, right now I would not put it past Marcus to have music on the speakers above me playing music that I have no control over, and I have to play like it’s great.

Like I said, it’s no big deal, I’ll just act like I love hearing new music, and usually I do but not when it’s all the same autotune nonsense.

I swear I can fall asleep right now…

Less than 2 hours to go. I have completed 3 or 4 crossword puzzles since I returned from my lunch hour.

Janis Ian

It’s another hot day in Manhattan. 97° feels like 103°, that’s according to the temperature display on my screen. A handsome, scantily clad man walks by, and they just keep walking, which is fine by me.

Over the weekend, Mike had a problem with Jeff Bezos’ company. He submitted a text to confirm an interview, and AI said he did not. We pursued it further, and they called up yesterday and let him know that AI did mess up and they would like to see him.

He had his interview, and it went well. He astounded the interviewer with what he had to say, and he asked questions that took them aback. They were impressed enough to let him know an hour or so later that the job was his. So he’s very happy he’s got the job. He seems to be on the right path. Let’s hope he continues to be on the right path.

Last night, while sweltering in my heat, I was looking for something to watch and might have watched a documentary on Janis Ian. I had known about her for quite some time, and admired her and followed her on social media. She’s a right-on chick. And last night was a very informative, entertaining interview or biography.

I am also glad I put the AC in the window, which enabled me to sleep soundly throughout the night. So soundly and so cool that I was underneath a comforter, and I woke up. Bill was on the road and didn’t come home until this morning after I had left. He seems to be presently sleeping, which is what he can do, and he is doing in the AC bedroom.

And today I had a healthy lunch. This morning, though, I was toast one cup of coffee and the brutal heat fried my brain. I bought a bagel for $2.65 and gave the woman behind the counter $5.65, and instead of waiting for $3 change, I just took my bagel and walked out. Walking down the street, minutes later, I realized what I had done, and all I could do was laugh. I guess we’ll find out more on Friday when I get my bagel on Friday.

And at work, I seem to have poked the bear at Jimmy Chile’s suggestion, and now I seem to be in the crosshairs of Marcus. Marcus loves to play pranks. I fell for it, and now I am his latest target, and apparently, I don’t know how bad he could get, as he’s told me himself this morning. So it remains to be seen if I keep giving him the side eye, uncertain of what’s going to happen if it’ll happen. There is also letting my guard down after some time, so he could always get back to me that way, and he probably will. It’s so unnerving, but happily so, I suppose.

So Mike will start on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at $19 an hour, which is a good way to start and a good improvement on the pay from what he was making at the shelter where he had worked. They are mighty impressed with him enough so that they’re taking him on. Now all he has to do is keep a cool head, take a deep breath when things don’t go his way, and just keep at it.
