Friday, June 20th, morning meeting at 31st Street, 9:15 a.m. I walked up from 15th Street an enjoyable walk in a beautiful morning. Yesterday was spent with Mike, which was a lot of fun. He’s getting jerked around by that llama that’s ravenous.
Come in tomorrow, they say, then they say do not come in tomorrow, then they say can you come in tomorrow?
And then they asked him to come in today to work from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and he was willing and I said it might be a test and they are so wishy-washy and they seem to be playing games seeing other people after telling Mike that he has the job but they will decide on Monday.
So initially he accepted the job for 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., but it would be off the books, and with his situation, that is something that cannot be done since they do look at him under the magnifying glass. So ultimately, he had to turn them down.
We do have an interview scheduled for him on Tuesday afternoon on Houston Street, which could be good, that’s what he’s looking for, and it’s steady, and the company that is owned by Jeff Bezos is a legit company, and legit should be in quotation marks.
They responded to the application very fast, within minutes, and offered him an interview on Tuesday afternoon. Mike has been most appreciative of the work and the support that Bill and I have given him in the past couple of months, and it’s good to be told how appreciative a person is.
I will pass my old stomping grounds, at least the route I used to take to get to my old stomping grounds, and much has changed since 2019, as it should, since it’s been 6 years in Manhattan, and nothing really sticks around; people, buildings, companies change and move.
Bill’s Apple Watch has passed away, and now I know what to get him for his birthday. Fortunately, I have a connection and could get a deal. And the deal was granted, and it should be delivered tomorrow to Hoboken. (It was!)
So next weekend is Bill’s birthday and today I got him a present which was considerably marked down and thanks to Marcus the dude I work with I ordered it saved a lot of money and it’s going to be delivered to my home tomorrow at which case I guess I’ll give it to Bill on Sunday.
It’s a nice, quiet, glorious, calm day. Just about the only thing I’ve done today was attend that meeting, which lasted about an hour. I had a nice 20-minute walk up to the meeting and then a nice 20 to 40-minute walk back. I stopped at the Union Square Farmers Market and bought the chocolate bread that Mike and I like.
Thanks to Marcus’s assistance, I bought him lunch today, which I didn’t have to do, but I did, and he was grateful, and it was a good lunch. Whereas I have been ordering each week from Chopt at Marcus’s insistence, I ordered from Sweet Green, which turned out to be the better choice. Not so much the presentation, but the food itself is very good, better than Chopt. Points to Chopt for presentation, but points to sweet greens for the food itself.
