A cold

It seems I am a bit under the weather. Yesterday, Saturday had me on the slippery slope and overnight it turned into what I think is a cold. Not so achy or feverish which rules out the flu. Just congestion in my head and not operating at 100%. I was trying to figure out how and where this might have happened.

It could have been riding the 87 bus without a mask and it was crowded. It could have been picked up by Mike or from Bill. The both of them have a lot more contact with people than I had lately. It doesn’t really matter, I am ill. I think the worst has passed.

I was in bed by 11 PM last night and was fast asleep after a shot of Nyquil, recommended by both Mike and Bill. It certainly knocked me out. As the time inched closer to 11 PM my eyelids were drooping which was a sure sign that it was time to go to bed.

According to Bill I was so far gone when he walked into the bedroom I was snoring quite loudly. I’ll have to take his word for it. This post might not hit the 500 word quota that I generally aim for. Right now the weather forecast is on TV, outside the window it is snowing.

The World Trade Center and the Empire State Building are hidden in the snow. Jersey City as well, but Union City can be seen. I did go out yesterday when I was feeling better. I did not sleep well Friday into Saturday and that might have contributed to this malaise.

The trip to the supermarket was uneventful but as I came back there was something going on with my body. I do like to go out at least once a day but feeling the way I feel, that meant it would be best to stay indoors.

Bill is fine, Mike is fine and I think I am on the mend. That’s all there is. So it goes.

Off the Cuff (French)

It’s a cold January Friday. Not the worst but being on the top floor here in Hoboken it’s a bit colder up in here. The day started with Bill, being the wonderful and silly Billy. There were a few hiccups as there are wont to be. When Mike was here last weekend he asked if I had a white button-down shirt and I knew I did but most of them were colored or were prints.

As I pulled them out I noticed that some of them were dingy. I have a few French cuff shirts and they looked yellowy. A while back during a rainstorm we had a leak and while I thought I had rescued clothing, it was now apparent that I hadn’t got them all. I gathered the white shirts and washed them with bleach and it seemed to do the job.

They were still wrinkled so I was going to bring them to the dry cleaners. That would also spare me the sight of bringing dingy, yellow shirts, instead bringing freshly washed and air-dried white shirts. Bill did that instead for me earning my gratitude. There was a shirt that was returned, a French cuff that was frayed.

Still wearable, I asked Bill to tell Mona the proprietress of the dry cleaners that the shirt just needed ironing and pointed out the cuff in case Mona did not want to take an item in that condition and then accuse her of ruining my shirt which I would never do.

Bill interpreted that as asking Mona to mend the cuff which she explained that she could not do. I grumbled upon the return of the shirt, totally disregarding the fact that Bill had paid for 11 shirts to be cleaned and pressed and labeling myself a twat at that moment.

As Bill was preparing to head out, he stood before me, backpack on, dapper hat, lovely scarf, and leather coat and the sun hit him in such a way that I needed to take a photo. I reached for my camera/phone when Bill said he didn’t have enough time for this, he had to catch a bus!

So that moment passed by because 5 seconds to take a snapshot was just cutting it too close. Then as he passed I took another photo, which was quite lackluster compared to the original concept.

About an hour after that, I was off to the 87 bus to Jersey City to visit Mike. He needed some help with casting his phone to his TV and also wanted to take some photos for which he is very admired by his social network followers.

That was fun. He’s a handsome cigar smoker with a sexy vibe and macho swagger. That works for me on many levels. I did visit Mike a couple of weeks ago and it was enjoyable then as it was this afternoon. He’s a great guy and a lot of fun to be with. And he really digs the relationship that Bill and I have.
