It was a little too earnest for me. The movie had a great script, great acting and it would have been wonderful to have been a guest at a wedding like that. Just wouldn't want to be a member of the family. I'd like to see what else Jenny Lumet has in the script drawer.

My girlfriend and I watched "Rachel" earlier this year and enjoyed all the postrehab dysfunction concerning Rachel, but the multiculti wedding seemed like something from another planet, especially when slammed up against the gritty scenes of family anguish. Sure, all weddings should be that diverse, but does Jonathan Demme think most people, black or white, have actually been to weddings like that?
